Composting & mini-beasts – Wentworth Nursery
So much of what we consume goes into landfill, but instead it could be food for worms!
Kids love delving into soil and most of them like bugs and worms (and if they don’t, we can soon sort that out!). Over a period of 5 weeks, the children at Wentworth Nursery found out all about composting and mini-beasts as well as getting to grips with lots of wriggly worms. They discovered how important worms were and what they like and don’t like to eat.
The children made a mini-wormery – great for watching them at work – and planted sunflower seeds in compost. We added a recycling element to the project by encouraging them to make sure that all their fruit waste ends up in the compost bin and wormery. More food for the worms!
