Short History

EcoACTIVE started with Prue Poulton and the Hackney Environmental Education Project (HEEP)1984-94.  Prue worked with Gillian Symons at Hackney Environmental Education Project (HEEP), to develop the unique combination of urban studies, environmental education and active learning which is at the heart of the ecoACTIVE approach.

Prue went to work at the Rubbish Dump in 1995, and then as Hackney Environmentalist-in-Residence from 1997-99. Rubbish Dump re-launched as ecoACTIVE in 1999, becoming independent of HCT in 2002 and a registered charity in 2008.
