Waste Education Programme

How much do you know about waste?

EcoACTIVE was commissioned by North London Waste Authority to run a waste education programme in 14 schools across 7 North London boroughs (2 schools per borough) in 2019.

The programme was fully funded, ran until February 2019 and was ideal for a KS2 group such as a school council group or a green team.

The programme offers participating schools the chance to learn about the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling different kinds of waste (food, textiles, paper, metal, glass, plastic) through cross-curricular, creative, hands-on and informative workshops.

A staff INSET, 2 whole-school assemblies and a parent event also allows the wider school community to be involved in the programme.

The programme provides an effective way of delivering waste prevention education to a diverse audience of people and offers opportunities to build skills, knowledge and understanding of waste issues, as well as helping pupils take the message home to their families.

All participating schools are entered into a competition (1st prize £500, 2nd prize £200, 3rd prize £100). The winning schools will have reduced the most amount of waste and best communicated their work to the rest of the school.

The top three schools will be awarded with funds to help implement waste prevention measures at school. Winners will be announced at a fun celebration event in February 2018.

The 2019 project is now closed, but to register your interest in future projects please call ecoACTIVE on 020 8510 0113 or email hello@ecoactive.org.uk

Schools will be signed up on a first come, first serve basis. We look forward to hearing from you!
