Hackney residents, it’s time to get buzzing in 2025! In Spring 2024 we launched The Hackney Buzzline project, an exciting community initiative to bring our borough together in the name of biodiversity. As we move towards the second year of our project we’re launching the next stage: a collaborative Community Map. By sharing photos of your pollinator-friendly spaces, you’ll help us build an inspiring, interactive map showcasing Hackney’s green contributions. From balcony planters to garden makeovers, every effort makes a difference—and we can’t wait to see yours!

What Is The Hackney Buzzline Community Map?

Pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hoverflies play a crucial role in supporting our environment. But they need our help. The Hackney Buzzline Community Map is a visual map of pollinator-friendly spaces created by you—our community. It’s all about connecting green spaces across Hackney to form a thriving pollinator corridor.

Whether you’ve depaved your front garden, grown wildflowers on a rooftop, or planted lavender in your windowsill box, every little step contributes to making Hackney a haven for pollinators.

How Can You Join?

Joining The Hackney Buzzline is simple, and your contribution will have a big impact. Here’s how:

1. Snap a Photo

Capture your green space or pollinator-friendly project! It could be a shot from spring when your wildflowers were in full bloom, or a cozy winter setup where nature is preparing for the seasons ahead.

2. Share Your Story

Tell us a bit about your efforts. What inspired you to create this space? How are you supporting pollinators?

3. Submit Your Image

Upload your photo and location through our easy-to-use submission portal. Once approved, your photo will appear on The Hackney Buzzline Community Map, connecting your green space to others across the borough.
