Hackney Buzzline receives support from King Charles III Charitable Fund

Our Hackney Buzzline project has been given a further boost thanks to match funding from King Charles III Charitable Fund. Match funding our National Lottery Heritage Fund grant is crucial to the success of the project over the next three years. It will support the development and maintenance of the green corridor, including the creation of meadows, gardens, and 'stepping-stone' habitats. It will also enable us further engage with schools, community hubs, and provide more training for volunteers.

Making a positive impact on our community

Founded in 1979 by King Charles III and inspired by His Majesty’s values of harmony and sustainability, King Charles III Charitable Fund is committed to helping people and communities to change the world around them, creating lasting improvements to people’s lives and a sustainable future for all. In April 2024, the Fund awarded more than £100,000 in grants to 36 organisations through the small grants programme.

We hope our funding will bolster the efforts of these organisations and amplify their ability to create meaningful change as they work to transform lives and build sustainable communities.

Transforming lives and building sustainable communities

The Hackney Buzzline is much more than a project to maximise urban biodiversity. It’s about building a sense of community and ecological connectivity. As one Hackney resident told us:

“It’s helped me get to know new people and brought the community closer together. People are more caring about local nature and their environment."

Our goal is to engage community involvement and foster connections with nature with over 600 people, including children, young people, adults from diverse backgrounds, and individuals from socio-economically deprived neighbourhoods.

This initiative aims to strengthen bonds within the community while promoting environmental stewardship, enhancing physical health, increased well-being, and building community pride.
