Introducing Our Green Match Fund: Doubling Your Impact for The Hackney Buzzline
We're thrilled to announce the launch of our Green Match Fund, an amazing initiative aimed at doubling the impact of The Hackney Buzzline project. With the generous support of our partners and donors, we're looking forward to working with the local community in Hackney to create a vibrant green pollinator corridor.
Supporting The Hackney Buzzline
The Hackney Buzzline is a transformative project that fosters biodiversity by creating a four-kilometre green corridor with meadows and gardens, enhancing pollinator networks. Engaging communities and schools, it promotes nature connection and citizen science, aiming for wide-reaching ecological impact.
How will The Green Match Fund support The Hackney Buzzline?
Thanks to the Green Match Fund, every donation made to The Hackney Buzzline project will be matched, doubling its impact. This funding will support the development and maintenance of the green corridor, including the creation of meadows, gardens, and 'stepping-stone' habitats. It will also enable us to engage with schools, community hubs, and volunteers to ensure the success of the project over the next three years.
Your donation will used to support our Postcode Gardener and sessions workers to run meadow sowing sessions, provide gardening training for volunteers and host family activities and events
How does the Green match Fund Work?
Donate: From 18-25th April individuals can donate via our Big Give Green Match Fund Page
Match: Thanks to our Green Match Fund, every donation received will be matched, effectively doubling its impact.

What are the goals of The Hackney Buzzline?
Maximising Biodiversity and Ecological Connectivity
By establishing a corridor of meadows and community gardens, your green match fund donation expands ecological networks, providing vital habitats for pollinators. This initiative bridges foraging gaps and facilitates movement through urban landscapes, promoting biodiversity.
Empowering Citizen Science Monitoring
Your donation helps us introduce three new citizen science projects aimed at establishing baselines and tracking changes in pollinator species' presence, abundance, and richness. This data is invaluable for conservation efforts, helping to inform future strategies and interventions.
"It’s helped me get to know new people and brought the community closer together. People are more caring about local nature and their environment." - Hackney Resident
Fostering Community Engagement and Participation
With the support of your donation, over 600 people, including children, young people, adults from diverse backgrounds, and individuals from socio-economically deprived neighbourhoods, will be engaged in activities that foster connections with nature and promote community involvement. This initiative aims to strengthen bonds within the community while promoting environmental stewardship.
"I’m proud that our neighbourhood is an inspiration to other community greening projects." - Hackney Resident
Promoting Well-being and Skills Development
We anticipate that up to 90% of participants will report improved connection with nature, enhanced physical health, increased well-being, and community pride as a result of our donation. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to develop valuable skills in wildlife gardening and ecological surveying, contributing to their personal growth and development.
"I look forward to going to the community garden every week. It keeps me active and I enjoy nurturing plants grown organically with no carbon footprint." - Community Garden Volunteer
Driving Behavioural and Policy Change
Our project aims to spur broader shifts in environmental practices and policies. Recent survey data indicates that 95% of respondents have taken action to support nature as a result of our initiatives. By promoting initiatives such as a glyphosate-free zone and expanding the Postcode Gardener project, our donation is contributing to tangible changes in environmental practices and policies on a wider scale.
